It Gets Easier
This summer has been a memorable one for my shirtless journey.
I started off with the normal seasonal hesitation, but, with time and commitment, I have made many strides that I am proud of.
I live near the beach, so that gives me ample opportunity to be shirtless. In the last couple of months, I have been shirtless:
1) anywhere outdoors in public - walking through the beach business district, pumping gas, and parks - I have more or less conquered this.
3) Convenience stores/grocery stores - I have been able to do both of this things, and I had no problems at all.
Keep in mind that I'm doing these things near the beach, at least mostly. I'm not sure, other than being outdoors, that I could do this in businesses elsewhere. It blends in at the beach, yet it may be jarring elsewhere, and I don't like to attract possibly negative attention (although people should really mind their own business).
My biggest hangup is being shirtless around women, and that's starting to go away.
On another note, I've discovered a new shirtless singer, and I'm not mad about it:
His name is Mike Ryan, and he can keep on doing his thing. Whether he knows it or not, he represents the lifestyle very well.
Hey Man,
ReplyDeleteJust been reading your blog, keep up the good work advocating shirtlessness.
I'm a runner and enjoy running shirtless, I googled shirtless running and found lots of web pages about it and being shirtless in general, including the FB group so went down the rabbit hole too :;
I enjoyed being shirtless more as a teenager and then kind of forgot about it until a couple of years ago. I feel I'm on a shirtless journey now too, and am gaining more confidence being shirtless day to day, firstly in sport and now increasingly when I am out in the city. Its great I feel its becoming part of who I am now. As you wrote, it gets easier all of the time. Nice to see there are others out there. Keep up the good work :)

Hey, thanks for the comment! Sounds like you are progressing well. Not sure where you live, but I hope it's shirtless friendly. There are definitely a lot of us out there - men who want to be shirtless anywhere and everywhere. It's our right as men, and it is something we need to claim and normalize. What are your shirtless activities?
DeleteI enjoy nudity at home while on display to outsiders, and shirtlessness everywhere else. I wear tank tops with totally open sides.
ReplyDeleteDo you live in a shirtless friendly area? Do you go into businesses shirtless?
DeleteI love the open sided tank tops. I have some on order right now.
I agree it does get easier with time. I shared my shirtless no journey in a previous post. I recommend taking off your shirt when you finish working. I work in an un-ait conditioned warehouse and it's easy for me to pop my shirt off and drive home that way.
